Jonatan Christie shot to third place in the world in the latest BWF ranking announcement list. The following is the latest BWF ranking list as of Tuesday (16/4).
Jonathan successfully won the 2024 Badminton Asia Championships (BAC) after lifting the All England trophy in the previous championship. This victory made Jonathan climb to third place in the world.
Jonathan currently has 89,211 points. He is still behind Shi Yuqi (92.184) and Viktor Axelsen (98.715) who are the two badminton players above Jonathan’s ranking.
In contrast to Jonathan, Anthony Ginting actually experienced a decline in his ranking this week. Ginting, who was in third place the previous week, has now slipped to seventh.
The decline in Ginting’s ranking cannot be separated from Ginting’s defeat in the quarter-finals of BAC 2024. Ginting, who has the status of BAC 2023 champion, lost a lot of points so he had to be willing to be overtaken by other players.
Gregoria Mariska Tunjung also experienced a decline in ranking. Gregoria fell one place to ninth position, shifted by Wang Zhi Yi.
In the men’s doubles number, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto remained in seventh position. Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri dropped one place to ninth place.
Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin remained in 13th place, while Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan had to drop two positions to 17th.
Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva is in ninth place. Meanwhile, Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari are in 15th position.
