Yes, Apriyani/Fadia won in the round of 32 of the French Open 2024 over the third seeds, Kim So Yeong/Kong Hee Yong, from South Korea. Prifad – as Apriyani/Fadia is known – made a brilliant comeback against Kim/Kong in the match which took place at the Adidas Arena, Paris, France, on Tuesday (5/3/2024) evening WIB.
Apriyani/Fadia need to go through a rubber game to calm down. After fighting for 1 hour 23 minutes, they won with a score of 14-21, 21-17 and 21-8.
Apriyani/Fadia also revealed that the defeat they experienced in the first game was because they were still trying to adapt to the field. They are still looking for the right strategy to tame Kim/Kong.
However, after that, Apriyani/Fadia managed to find the right playing pattern. As a result, they were able to achieve victory.
“In the first game, we were still looking for playing patterns, still adapting to the atmosphere of the match. “But in the second and third games, with good communication, we were able to recover and take control of the game,” said Apriyani, quoted from the PBSI release, Tuesday (5/3/2024).
“We have met with them often, we both know each other’s strengths and weaknesses, whoever was better prepared won,” continued Fadia.
In the first game, Apriyani/Fadia were able to match Kim/Kong’s game until they reached a score of 11-11. But after that, they made many mistakes so they fell behind 11-17 and finally lost with a score of 14-21.
In the second game, the world number nine pair immediately took a 4-1 lead, although Kim/Kong then caught up at 7-7. Luckily, they were able to find their best game again to walk away with a 16-11 lead and finally win with a score of 21-17.
Apriyani/Fadia went berserk in the third game, leaving Kim/Kong unable to move. They were 11-2 ahead at the interval and continued to dominate to widen the gap to 17-6 and then win with a score of 21-8.
“We bring a positive aura to playing for the first time at the Adidas Arena because it will be the arena for the Olympic Games so we want to adapt well here,” explained Apriyani.
“I told myself earlier, I have to play fast, not have many rallies. “That’s quite effective in getting points,” he added.
Coincidentally, this was Apriyani’s first match after undergoing a long recovery process for her leg injury. Fadia couldn’t contain his admiration for the senior who was able to perform extraordinary even though he had just recovered from injury and had to play for three games.
“Two words today for Sis Apri, amazing!” said Fadia.
“I didn’t expect Sis Apri to be able to play straight away like that, but she convinced me with her winning aura so I was carried away by her enthusiasm too,” he concluded.
