The Indonesian badminton team ensured they qualified for the quarter-finals of the 2024 Thomas Cup after winning 3-1 over Thailand in the second Group C match at the Chengdu High-tech Zone Sports Center Gymnasium, China, Monday (29/4).
This certainty was obtained after India also managed to beat England in another match. Until this news was published, India had managed to lead 4-0 over England.
Indonesia and India’s victory means the two teams are left to fight for the position of winner of Group C of the 2024 Thomas Cup in the final match, Wednesday (1/5).
Indonesia secured the first point over Thailand through Anthony Ginting’s victory in the first match. Ginting won 21-16, 21-13 over Panitchaphon Teeraratskul.
Thailand then managed to equalize after Peeratchai Sukphun/Pakkapon Teeraratsakul surprisingly beat Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto 19-21, 21-14, 11-21.
The Indonesian badminton team regained the lead after Jonatan Christie contributed points in the third match. Jojo received fierce resistance from Saran Jamsri through three games 21-16, 13-21, 21-12.

Indonesia then secured a 3-1 victory over Thailand after Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin won two games 21-13 and 21-10 over Sirawit Sothon/Natthapat Trinkajee.
