Three Indonesian representatives dropped out on the fourth day of the 2024 Asian Championship, leaving only men’s singles Jonatan Christie to advance to the semifinals.

The Red-White representatives continued their struggle in the quarter-finals, Friday (12/4/2024) at the Ningbo Olympic Sports Center, China.

The hope of winning is open in three sectors, namely men’s singles, men’s doubles and women’s doubles.

Unfortunately, the chance to become an official champion was dashed in the women’s singles and men’s doubles sectors.

The defeat was suffered by Indonesia’s last hope, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung.

Chen Yu Fei beat the badminton player from Wonogiri.

Their match ended in two games.

Gregoria fell 16-21 in the opening game.

A hard struggle was carried out by the Red-White representatives.

The 24 year old badminton player could smell the aroma of victory.

Unfortunately, Gregoria was hit by a deadly corner from Chen.

The score which was originally 18-16 for the Indonesian representative was reversed to 19-21.

The defeat from the women’s singles sector spread to the men’s doubles and men’s singles,

China’s superior challenge, Liang Weng Keng/Wang Chang, knocked out Fajar Alifan/Muhammad Rian Ardianto.

The match between the two elite men’s doubles was tough.

They spent 66 minutes on the field to determine who the winner was.

Fajar/Rian finally fell 19-21, 21-12, and 17-21.

He lost quite badly to Li Shi Feng.

Thus, practically only Jonatan Christie has the chance to win Indonesia .

The men’s singles managed to defeat the Malaysian badminton king, Lee Zii Jia.

WS: Gregoria Mariska Tunjung (7) vs Chen Yu Fei (China/2) , 16-21, 19-21.

MS: Jonatan Christie (3) vs Lee Zii Jia (Malaysia/8), 21-14, 21-6.

MD: Fajar Alfian /Muhammad Rian Ardianto (6) vs Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang (China/3) , 19-21, 21-12, 17-21.

MS: Anthony Sinisuka Ginting (2) vs Li Shi Feng (China/5) 9-21, 10-21.
