List of 8 Indonesian Players Sentenced by BWF for Match Fixing

A total of eight Indonesian badminton players were severely punished by the Badminton World Board (BWF) because they were involved in cases of alleged betting and match fixing. The following are eight Indonesian players who were punished for the alleged match fixing case based on a release issued by BWF on Wednesday (27/3).

BWF imposed heavy punishments on eight Indonesian athletes. The eight Indonesian players who were punished for match fixing were Hendra Tandjaya (men’s doubles, mixed doubles), Ivandi Danang (men’s doubles, mixed doubles), Androw Yunanto (men’s singles, men’s doubles), and Sekartaji Putri (women’s singles, mixed doubles).

Then Mia Mawarti (women’s singles), Fadila Afni (women’s singles, women’s doubles), Aditiya Dwiantoro (men’s doubles), and Agriprinna Prima Rahmanto Putra (men’s singles, men’s doubles, mixed doubles).

BWF gave different disciplinary punishments to eight Indonesian players. Apart from that, BWF also punished other players from Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia and India with the same case.

“The BWF Disciplinary Panel decides on alleged violations of the BWF Statutes and has the authority to impose suspensions,” wrote the BWF.

In a decision on December 22 2020, the BWF Independent Examination Panel imposed life sentences on three Indonesian players, namely Hendra Tandjaya, Ivandi Danang and Androw Yunanto.

Then BWF punished Sekartaji Putri with a ban on carrying out activities related to badminton for 12 years until January 18 2032 and a fine of US$ 12 thousand or the equivalent of Rp. 190.5 million.

Meanwhile, Mia Mawarti and Fadilla Afni received punishment in the form of a ban on carrying out activities related to badminton for 12 years until January 18 2030 and a fine of US$ 10 thousand.

Then Aditya Dwiantoro was banned from badminton activities for 7 years until January 18 2027 and fined US$7 thousand.

Meanwhile, Agripinna Prima Rahmanto was banned from badminton for 6 years until January 18 2026 with a fine of US$3 thousand. All of these sentences are effective from January 18 2020.

The Indonesian players were given a 21-day deadline to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
