RESULTS from the last 16 of the All England 2024 will be reviewed in this article. Indonesian men’s singles, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting , managed to beat the Japanese representative, Kenta Nishimoto, in the last 16 of the All England 2024 and advanced to the quarter-finals.
This duel was held at the Utilita Arena, Birmingham, England, Thursday (14/3/2024) afternoon WIB. Ginting won two straight games with a score of 21-18 and 21-19 in 53 minutes.
With these results, Ginting advanced to the quarter-finals of the Super 1000 tournament. Next, he will face the winner of the match between the first seed, Viktor Axelsen, from Denmark, and the Chinese envoy, Weng Hong Yang.
The Course of the Match
Ginting started the match badly. He made a lot of unforced errors and had difficulty keeping up with his opponent’s game so he fell behind 2-8.
However, slowly but surely the player ranked fifth in the world can improve his game and get closer to 7-8. However, Nishimoto was able to press it again to lead 11-8 in the first game interval.
After the break, Onik – Ginting’s nickname – played more aggressively. He launched hard and deadly smashes until he was able to lead 14-12. However, Nishimoto continued to provide tough resistance which made the score equal again at 15-15.
Entering critical points, Ginting was again able to gain points with the effective attacks he launched. As a result, he was able to lead 18-15 and then closed the first game with a 21-18 win.
In the second game, the 27 year old player immediately stepped on the gas to attack. With accurate cross-smashes, he makes the opponent unable to move. As a result, he won 6-1.
Continuing to press, Ginting really made it difficult for Nishimoto to keep up with his game. He also succeeded in entering the second game interval first with an 11-6 advantage.
After the break, Nishimoto began to find gaps to develop his game until he was able to cut his deficit to 9-11. A tight match ensued after that where both players traded attacks.
However, Ginting was able to calmly maintain his good game so he continued to lead at 14-13 and 16-15. Even though Nishimoto was chasing at 18-18, in the end, the Cimahi-born player succeeded in sealing his victory in the second game with a score of 21-19.
