Internet Network: Definition, Function, and Development

Hybridnetworkyt.com – It could be said that humans today cannot be separated from the internet. The internet does have an important role in human life, which is useful for making it easier to communicate, search for information, and many others. It can be seen that almost all aspects of work in daily life rely on the internet. And it’s no longer a secret trick to look for all the solutions and answers on the internet. When you are looking for food recipes, looking for news, even when ordering certain goods or products, the internet can always be relied on. Not infrequently, this sophisticated technology separates a person from other people around him. As an internet user, do you know about internet networks?

What is an Internet Network?

The Internet is a global communications network that connects computers and computer networks throughout the world. This abbreviation for Interconnected Network allows you to share information and communicate from anywhere and with anyone. Apart from that, there are also those who define the internet as an International Network, where all types and types of computers throughout the world can be connected using types of communication such as telephone, satellite, and so on. It could be said, the internet is a very broad network concept and can be used internationally. Apart from that, the internet also involves various types of computers and different network topologies.

To organize, integrate and communicate networks, use the Transmission Control Protocol or Internet Protocol Suite (abbreviated as TCP/IP), which is a packet exchange protocol (Switching Communication Protocol) that can be used for more than billions of users in the world. Meanwhile, the term internet network (internetworking) means the method or process of connecting internet networks and applying the rules.

What is the Function of the Internet?

Basically, the internet network has several important functions that are really needed by humans, including the following:

1. As a communication medium

One proof of the massive use of the internet as a communication medium is the emergence of various social media sites, chat applications, and others which can make it easier for everyone to communicate.

2. As a medium for accessing information

The internet era can also be said to be the era of openness, which means that the presence of the internet will make it easier for people to access the various information they need. It can be said that whatever information you want to find, it can be easily obtained via the internet network.

3. As a medium for exchanging resources

There are lots of people who want to share resources or data with other people around the world. And this kind of thing can easily be done via the internet. Some data or resources that are often shared on the internet include journals, written works, papers, videos, photos, designs, and so on.

4. As a medium for news access

With the increasing number of online news sites or online media, of course the latest events can be easily known.

What is the History of the Development of the Internet?

Did you know that the internet first appeared in 1969 in the form of a computer network created by ARPA? ARPA (Advanced Research Projects Agency) built the first internet network which was later named ARPANET. ARPANET was the forerunner to the formation of the internet network known today.

Then in the 1980s, the internet began to be used by limited groups and carried out its function by connecting various popular campuses or universities in the United States. The standard protocol for TCP/IP began to be published to the public in 1982. Domain names also began to be used in 1984. Then, the National Science Foundation Network (NSFNET) was founded and began to be developed in 1986. NSFNET is what began to replace ARPANET’s role as a related research forum in the United States. Several international networks in many countries finally began to be developed and connected via NSFNET.

ARPANET was launched in 1990, but the internet itself is still developing continuously to this day. In the past, the only information that could be obtained via the internet was text-based information. In 1990, a similar graphical display-based service known as WWW (World Wide Web) began to be developed again by CERN. Then in 1993, InterNIC was founded to be able to serve domain name registration from the public. Then around 1994, the internet entered Indonesia. At that time, the internet network in Indonesia was better known as the Paguyuban Network.

What Will the Internet Look Like in the Future?

Many predict that the need for internet in the future will be at the same level as the need for electricity. The internet will become more easily accessible to anyone, does not require many devices, and its existence is very vital. Apart from that, in the future it is also predicted that various telecommunications tools will start to use the internet as a means.
