MARCUS Fernaldi Gideon officially announced his retirement as a professional badminton player. Marcus conveyed this via his upload on his official Instagram account on Saturday (9/3/2024) morning WIB.
The announcement coincides with Marcus’ birthday today, Saturday (9/3/2024). His decision to retire was taken after working in the world of badminton for 25 years.
“Thank God for these 33 years. Today, at the age of 33, I decided to quit my professional badminton career,” said Marcus on his Instagram account.
“I can’t believe it’s been 25 years of non-stop training and competing on the field. I give thanks to the Lord Jesus who has worked in my life, without Him I might not be where I am today,” he continued.
Last time, Marcus had a brilliant world career in the world of badminton with Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo. Marcus achieved a number of achievements with Kevin, one of which was being ranked number one in the world for five years.
“I close my career in the world of badminton with a satisfied and grateful heart,” said Marcus.
Before retiring, Marcus had a duet with Muhammad Rayhan Nur Fadillah in 2023. They participated in a number of tournaments, but failed to achieve maximum results.
